How to Draw Food
Step 1
Outline the steak right in the center of the paper. Make sure you draw in the middle to leave enough space for the plate and outline we will draw in the next few steps.
To ensure the outline is correctly centered, draw a horizontal and a vertical line on the paper to create reference lines.
Where the two lines meet is where you should outline.
Step 2
Draw a diagonal circular shape around the steak. This serves as the inner trimmings of a round bowl.
Remember that a particular dish part shouldn’t be visible as the steak will cover it. This trick will help make your food drawing more dimensional and realistic.
Step 3
Draw another angled circle shape outside the outline we drew in the previous step. However, this time the outline is discernible. This will be the outer outline of the court.
Remember that there should be a gap between the inner and outer contours. This will help make the dish more eye-catching.
Step 4
Inside the steak, draw an outline that follows the shape of the steak we drew in the first step. This outlines the top of the steak and creates dimension.
Step 5
Draw small circles in the plate surrounding the steak. This outlines the beans to create a side dish alongside the grilled steak.
As you can see in this illustration, there are four small circles on the left side of the steak and four on the opposite side. You can draw as many as shown in this figure or as many as you like.
Step 6
And of course, a plate of grilled steak would only be complete with a side dish of tasty leafy greens like lettuce.
Draw the lettuce leaf on the left side of the steak by drawing continuous irregular curved lines around the edge.
Step 7
Repeat the previous step to draw another lettuce on the right side of the steak, creating a filling bowl.
Remember that only the edges of the lettuce should be visible, not the entire leaf. It should appear as if the greens are under the stake, so only the edges are showing.
Step 8
Draw two long diagonal lines across the top of the steak. Keep the lines in the middle of the steak; they shouldn’t touch the edges.
Draw four more diagonal lines overlapping the last two lines. This time, however, the line should be drawn in the opposite direction, creating a criss-cross pattern. When drawn correctly, the lines should look like grill marks, making the steak look more delicious and freshly grilled.
Here you can see that the food is almost gone! The only thing that needs to be added is a splash of more colors to complete your artwork!
Finally, the most exciting part comes: fill in the colors for your fantastic drawing! This is where you can show off your artistic skills and ability to mix and match different colors.
The color of a grilled steak varies from brown to pink, depending on how it is prepared. You can colorize your drawing exactly as shown or customize the colors to your liking. Anyway, we’re sure your drawing will look great!
You can color in your food drawing any way you like and see the steak finally come to life!
